Book Shaped Building in Turkmen
On September 2009, Dream Project “The Hub” has been approved by the state government but it took time for the Surat Municipal Corporation to convince the state government Corporation to allow a 100-metre tall building because a building over 40 meters high is not permitted in the state but it finally got approved this week. A 30-storey building resembling a stack of books placed unevenly on each other will come up at Kharvanagar junction on the Surat-Navsari road. The building will come up on the 21,000 square meter land at the cost of around Rs 500 crore it is an iconic building and the first to be developed by the local self government in the State. SMC will start the procedure for inviting tenders in the next few days.
It will contain
- Public place with open air theatre,
- Helipad
- Art gallery
- Library
- Multiplex
- Food court
- Walk way
- Commercial office
This Commercial Hub is not only the tallest building in the State but also a dream project for Surat City which was prepared by CEPT (Center for Environmental Planning and Technology).
The location of the building is very strategic. The main 100-metre building will have a diamond-shaped revolving hotel on the top floor in keeping with Surat’s status as the world’s biggest diamond cutting and polishing centre. Presently, the BRTS work is going on between Sarthana and Dumas resort and Udhna Darwaja to Sachin. Kharvanagar, where the 30-storey building will be located, is in the centre of city’s industrial and commercial activities and it is estimated that by 2021, around 6 lakh commuters will pass from Kharvar nagar junction every day, which means every minute about 100 to 150 cars will pass from here. Textile market, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Sachin and Pandesara industrial estates are nearby.
